It is unique in that it is quite a hard game to classify into a certain genre. The game is a blend of Real Time Strategy and First Person Shooter. The game involves collecting resources to build up a base and units. You can also then pilot virtually all of these units, and fight on the front lines along with your comrades, whilst being able to order everything else around at the same time. The developers of this game managed to pull off merging these two types of game together extremely well.
The Single Player campaign had some very surprising twists to it, and allowed you to make a few basic choices about how your campaign would proceed after certain points.
The real beauty of this game, though, lies in Multiplayer games. After all, you can only play a campaign so many times over...
I am a member of a Battlezone II clan called Six Dragons. I've been a member of this clan for 2 years, but have been playing the game for a couple longer than that. I am regarded as the second best player, after our clan founder & leader.
The unique combination of RTS/FPS makes Multiplayer games a great deal of fun. In "Team Strategy" games, one person on each team is a "Commander". This is the person responsible for building up the entire base, defences, and offensive units. The rest of the players on the team are "Pilots". They are given units by the commander, and then sent off into the field to do the fighting. This presents a very interesting strategic element, whereby the two commanders are vying to establish their base first, to get their comrades into the best ships. Meanwhile the fighters generally have to make life as hard as possible for the other team, whilst not getting their current ships blown up in the process!
