My Biography

Welcome to Christopher King's website.

Below, you will find my Biography. You can use the navigation bar on the left, or bottom of each page, to visit other parts of my site. You might also like to visit my blog.

I am currently a third year student studying at Bristol University. I am taking a four-year Masters degree course in Computer Science.

I was born in Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk and had lived in Suffolk all my life until I came to study at Bristol. I was accelerated a year in school, and gained a Scholarship at my Secondary school. I achieved 5 A*'s and 6 A's at GCSE level. I always had an innate affinity for Science, and so I chose to take Biology, Chemistry and Physics as A2 subjects. I achieved A, B, A respectively for these. I also took Maths and General Studies at AS level, for which I achieved A and B respectively.

I have been interested in Computers for many years. Initially I used computers mostly for gaming, but I progressively broadened my technical knowledge of them as time went by. I became very interested in taking up a Computing related career, hence my choice of degree course. I started out on the course with relatively little previous experience of programming, but I very quickly grasped the feel of the discipline.

Whilst at University I obtained a part-time job at a local Computer Software company, Bluewire Technologies. My primary role here was a Tester; tracking down & reporting upon the specifics of bugs and how to reproduce them. I spent my previous summer holiday underaking an internship at this company. My brief was to extend their existing software with a billing module. The summer placement itself was sponsored by the Shell STEP scheme. As part of the placement I had to give a presentation detailing what I had achieved. I came away with the runner-up prize for this, including a decent sum of £150.
